Busselton City’s Jets finished off their winning season on Saturday with a 4-3 win over Margaret River Spitfires. At the start of the game, both sides found themselves fighting hard to score however centre back Nicholas Hay eventually broke through from a perfect passing combination between Noah Bates and Kaydan Waugh.
Busselton’s attack didn’t stop there as many attempts from Carson Webster came close but Harrison McNab was the one to slot a ball right passed the keeper to make the score 2-0.
Throughout the first half centreback Aaron Rynvis, Matthew Weed and stand in goalkeeper James Page managed to stay calm and deny Spitfires from scoring. After losing key player Nicholas Hay going into the second half, Spitfires managed to even out the score to 2-2. However league winners Jets weren’t going to allow their last game of the season to be a loss. After a well fought 15 minutes, Jack Anderson kicked a perfectly placed corner to Ryan Zahra’s feet which ended up in the back of the net. With only a few minutes to go until the final whistle, top goal scorer James Johnson decided to finish the game with a well placed ball behind the keeper making it his 14th goal of the season and ending the Jets season on a high.
