This week the battle of the 10’s saw the Busso Lions take on the Dunsborough Vikings. With the Lions showing steady development and improvement in the first couple of games, it was shaping up to be a great contest.
A fine morning was found at Churchill Park, but with a cold wind whipping across the pitch. City’s 10’s have been concentrating on developing their awareness on the pitch, focusing on their structure and positioning, and also learning to find space.
The Lions rock in goal, keeper Tyson again worked hard, showing why he’s the protector of our goal. The players switch around regularly to learn the different positions and today was no exception. Jack had a great run as striker, partnered by young Alistair, who stepped up this week to help out.
The midfield linked play between front and back well, with Hayden controlling the center and finding the back of the net a number of times. Elise, Bryce, Remi and Ru ran the wide areas, taking the ball forward time and again.
The Lions again defended well with Jarvis, Jack, Ru, Hayden, Tyson and Seth all taking turns guarding the Lion goal.
Dunsborough fought hard throughout, showing great fight and some silky skills through the middle of the pitch. The Dunsborough keeper had a great game, making some cracking saves.
Special mention must be made to Seth. Playing in his first season, Seth showed fantastic defensive skills, breaking down the Vikings attack on numerous occasions.
The Busselton City FC Lions are back at Churchill next week, expecting another tough game.
