Match Report - Seniors 16th June 2019

Sickness & injuries meant a depleted Triple M Busselton City Ladies side faced league leaders Hay Park United on Sunday. Despite a confident start, Busselton quickly got frustrated as their opponent’s dictated play throughout the first half. As a result the local side struggled to get any momentum going during this period. The pace of Hay Park’s wingers was certainly a key factor in the four unanswered goals they scored despite the gallant efforts of Busselton goalkeeper Ashleigh Charlton. It was a refocused Busselton in the second spell with captain Sami Ryan leading from the front. Whilst Busselton were more constructive they were unable to break down a no nonsense Hay Park back four. On a positive note with only a handful of games under her belt, newcomer Banita Stewart found herself in much of the action in the midfield and on every occasion she didn’t put a foot wrong. Keeper Charlton also had a busy afternoon and played ‘out of her skin’ with a series of incredible saves. But even her quick reactions weren't enough to stop Hay Park scoring four more impressive goals before the final whistle.

Five goals from striker Martin Ryan ensured the Woody Nook Busselton City Masters were always in control in defeating Australind 5-2. After conceding an early goal Ryan ran rampant with four goals for the locals before the half time break. Australind got back into the game with a penalty before Ryan notched his fifth goal to give his side the steadier that they required. For Busselton Peter Thompson, Paul Satterthwaite, keeper Romain Trouve and Ryan all stood out. This win now gives Busselton third position on the ladder and some much needed confidence before their home clash with top of the table Dalyellup in a fortnight.

This Sunday CMI Busselton men’s teams clash with Dalyellup whilst the ladies side take on Football Margaret River. All games will be played at Churchill Park commencing at 11am.
