Season 2019 Opener

All Busselton City teams have drawn away games in the South West Soccer Association’s season opener to be played on Sunday.

CMI Busselton City Men’s Premier League and Reserves sides head to Dalyellup in what has traditionally been a hard fought encounter. Whilst Alan Armstrong’s side has made the final of the local pre-season competition with three solid performances, that will count for little come 3pm on Sunday afternoon. Certainly the inclusion of the likes of Will Jackson and Beau Haynes has provided Busselton with greater width in attack. The local side should be a full strength with the return of Martin Ryan and Miles Palmer-Williams, who were unavailable for the previous match.

New Reserves coach Sam Kellett will get his first opportunity to see his young side in action at Dalyellup. Strikers Koby Mayer and Patrick Tarrant loom as a combination that should trouble opposition defenders throughout the season. Former Youth team players Jaxon Rynvis, Scott Miller, George Davies and Reilly Mitchell also look very comfortable in their transition into senior soccer.

The Triple M ladies team head south to take on a youthful Margaret River side. Busselton, under the direction of coaches Charlton and Rob Gibbons, have had a very successful pre-season preparation culminating in winning the Football Margaret River Carnival last month. Hopefully key players Hannah Armstrong and Keely Milner will have overcome their injuries as their experience will be invaluable to promising youngsters Tennille Pavlinovich, Allyson Armstrong and Kayla Wright.

Woody Nook Busselton City Masters team take on near neighbours Geographe Bay in what is always a keenly fought encounter. Certainly if Busselton can get the likes of Dave Wright, Ianto Ward and Andy Bee on the pitch then they should be a most competitive outfit.
