Weekend Victory’s for Busselton City FC

Busselton City started their 2020 season in resounding style with all five teams recording emphatic   victory’s last Sunday.

CMI Busselton men’s team looked to be in control for large periods of their game before defeating Bunbury United 3-1. The local side scored after just 8 minutes when striker Ian Feakes expertly avoided the United defence. United thenreplied when some crisp short passing allowed BrendanMulcahy to equalise. In the second half Busselton were guilty of squandering numerous scoring opportunities before new English midfielder Craig Barker capped off an impressive debut with a well-placed drive from 20 metres and promisingwinger John Nguyen finished with a goal that cleverly deceived the United keeper.

Three goals in the first 15 minutes provided the platform for a strong Busselton Reserve side to record a 5-1 win over United. The aerial prowess of Pat Sheehan and some imposingwork in midfield by Jaxon Rynvis and recent signing Jack Garnham, proved problematic to United throughout the 90minutes. Sheehan’s diligence was rewarded with a hat-trick whilst Garnham notched a brace in a composed performance.

Sportspower Busselton City ladies premier team continued to assert their dominance with a 10-0 win over an inexperienced Dynamos outfit. After an evenly contested initial periodBusselton then started to the stretch the opposition back four and goal scoring opportunities subsequently followed. Scorers included Siobhan Longmore (3), Asha McClurg (2), Keeley Milner (2) with singles to Therese Charlton, Claudia Duane and Ariana Dawson.

Busselton City’s Ladies Reserves team returned to the competition for the first time in some years and marked the occasion with a decisive 5-0 win over United. After leading 2-0 at half time Busselton stepped up the tempo with two goals each to Chelsea Braam & Danielle Paull before Mollie Hawkins completed the scoring.

Three superbly finished goals to youngster Harrison Moon was the feature of Busselton’s Division 2 win against neighbours Geographe Bay. Busselton would be happy not only with the 5-1 score line but also with the wholeheartedefforts of Sam Njenga, Conor Poleykett and Rocky Turner.

This weekend Busselton City travel to Margaret River and Collie for their second round fixtures.
